Business Unit Manager - Toronto, Ontario

The Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to join Monteco in developing one of its newest businesses.  This new Monteco business unit, Optomem Sensors Inc., is being built around a revolutionary new technology in the gas sensor systems arena. 

We are looking for the right individual with a solid background in both micro-electronics and business development to take this technology from its current proof of concept stage, through to full commercialization.  Ultimately we’re looking for a senior business manager with an entrepreneurial spirit who has what it takes to build this venture into another Monteco success story.

The Role:

Business Unit Manager, reporting directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Lead in the development and execution of a successful business model and business plan to drive growth in the business unit;

  2. Identify the resources required to fulfill the objectives in the business plan and then marshal those resources effectively;

  3. Collaborate extensively with the Research & Development team to take this technology to full commercialization;

  4. Leverage Monteco Corporate Services, including Marketing, Human Resources, Information Technology, Government Affairs, and Finance, to fulfill the objectives of the business plan.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Ten or more years in a General Management or Senior Management role;

  2. Strong business development background—ideally with an emerging concept or technology;

  3. Strategic innovation leader in new products as well as process and best practices implementation;

  4. Enthusiastic and effective business representative and advocate with all stakeholders;

  5. Strong experience in raising finance and building brand awareness;

  6. Experience in micro-electronics fabrication and consumer electronics development;

  7. Experience in the industrial or medical devices market;

  8. Eagerness to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment;

  9. Solid technical expertise—ideally an Engineering degree or a Graduate degree in a relevant field or discipline.

 

Compensation:

Base salary is commensurate with experience, and the position includes a performance-based incentive component.  Monteco also offers a comprehensive and competitive package of health, dental, vision, and disability insurance.
